Callahan Scores Season Opener At Dubuque Speedway

Dubuque, Iowa: The 2016 racing season took the green flag on Sunday night as the Pioneer Rest Stop sponsored the opening nights action on the high banked 3/8 mile track located on the Dubuque County Fairgrounds.
The Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models headlined the program with a very quickly run 25 lap main event. The Late Models ran last and brought out the final checkered flag of the night just prior to the 9 o’clock hour. Joel Callahan took advantage of a mishap that sidelined race leader John Merfeld on lap 17 and went on to lead the remainder of the race in scoring the win ahead of John Poll and Luke Merfeld.
Racing action will continue in all four classes with season points being awarded this Sunday, April 24th. Hot laps at the Dubuque Speedway get underway at 6 pm with racing to follow.
